According to the liner notes, Freddie McKay and The Soul Defenders travelled from Linstead, St Catherine, Jamaica to record for Coxsone in Kingston. The results were this excellent early reggae LP, the songs of which essentially constituted The Soul Defenders' live act at the time.5/5(6).

It was released by Studio One in , and this was the first real introduction to the singer for the reggae public after a series of unsuccessful singles. Despite a potential hit with "Love Is a Treasure," done for Treasure Isle, the song was marred by its credit to "Treasure Boy.".

A collection of 24 tracks, many not previously included on the original album, this new reissue is presented as “the definitive collection of Freddie McKay at Studio One” and marks Discogs’ first foray into the world of vinyl reissues.
